Straight Talk About Wealth Creation: Something For Nothing

Is it really possible to create wealth in today’s economy, starting with nothing?

A couple weeks ago during the re-opening of Renegade Professional I sent a letter to my lists with a story from one of my favorite business mindset books of all time, Think and Grow Rich.

In this letter I asked people to post on my blog and tell me what their favorite business mindset book was.

I told people I wanted to create a massive resource list for others to check out when they want some valuable reading. And I incentivized people to participate by adding in a free surprise bonus (worth $60) to anyone who posted their favorite book…

I got over 340 comments on that post!

If you haven’t seen this incredible list of books yet (many of which I went out and bought right away myself), you can check it out here, just scroll down to the comments:

Top 340 Business Mindset Books

I did something similar a while back when I promoted John Reese’s Traffic Secrets 2 course. I told people who two out of three of my biggest mentors where and I asked them to guess who the third was. Again, I incentivized people’s participation by offering to buy a copy of John’s new course for the first person who guessed correctly.

I got 460 responses to that blog post and ended up compiling a sprawling list of incredible teachers and mentors to learn from!

If you’ve never seen this list you can view it here (this is my old blog that I haven’t used in ages but this just makes a great example that’s leading into a powerful lesson):

Top 460 Business Mentors

Do you realize what just happened here with these two examples?

Wealth Was Literally Created Out Of Thin Air

In both cases I created a valuable resource for people that didn’t previously exist.

By simply creating a list of mentors, teachers and books for them to reference, and other techniques like this, I turn my blog into a central resource – a hub of activity where people gather. And in the process they are exposed to all my other stuff. My free content, my products, etc. Many of them end up opting in to my lists to get more free content and many of them end up purchasing products from me, or even turning into business partners eventually.

In the case of the promotion for John Reese, I earned over $14,000 in commissions with three extremely short emails and this very simple contest I literally threw together at the last minute.

And the important point is, I did it using no money of my own and very little work. All I used was the power of my own mind.

I Didn’t Put Together Either Of These Lists Of Books Or Mentors…

The People On My List Did!

And the incentives that I offered people to help encourage their participation required no effort or money of my own either.

In the case of the John Reese promo, I generated over 5 figures in affiliate commissions and so purchasing a copy of the course for the winner of the contest was not an out of pocket expense.

In this recent example during the Renegade Professional re-launch I offered a surprise bonus for those who posted a comment.

I’ll let you in on a little secret here…

I wasn’t planning on sharing what this bonus was with anyone else besides that group of 341 people, but it’s an important lesson in leveraging your efforts and your content that I want to share with you.

The surprise bonus was two of the action guides from two of the recent sessions in our advanced Renegade Breakthrough Mentoring Program.

These action guides are highly valuable content that hundreds of other people have paid more than $2,700 for, but they’re just a fraction of the entire program.

But what’s important is that I had already put these action guides together for this group of students and I was just finding creative ways to repackage them and use them in other areas of my business. So I wasn’t doing any extra work.

And by using them for this recent contest, they did a lot of things to boost sales during the re-launch of Renegade Professional. To name just a few, this contest helped…

  • Build a bond and stronger relationship with my audience
  • Create more buzz and excitement around the blog
  • Create more of a sense of community
  • Create large amounts of social proof by showing that there were lots of people paying attention to this event

Money is everywhere for those who know how to create value for others.

Like Dan Kennedy says:

“All The Wealth In The World Is Like The Ocean. The Ocean
Cares Not Whether You Come And Take A Teaspoon
Of Water, Or A Great Big Giant Bucket.”

You can create wealth out of thin air too by just understanding the difference between the resources of today vs the resources of a hundred years ago.

In the past, an entrepreneur would create value for others by say, gathering natural resources like wood and metal and creating something that didn’t previously exist, like a chair or a house. If they created something people wanted, they would exchange their money for it.

Today, thanks to the internet, value (wealth) can be created using nothing more than your own thoughts.

The Big Difference Between Resources In The Information Age
And The Physical Resources Of Yesterday Is That When You Give
Them Away, They Don’t Decrease… They Increase!

If I have ten crates of metal parts and I give three away, I now have seven crates of metal parts.

But if I have a series of videos that teaches others how to improve their own health, and I give these videos away to 10,000 people, I don’t have any less! I still have the same videos to give away to as many other people as I want!

In fact, I have created more value because those people are going to tell other people.

The more I give my assets away, the more my assets grow!

And I don’t have to keep making more of the same asset in order to keep giving it away, like I would if I was producing chairs or houses. You do the work once and you’re done (like my action guides I repackaged and gave away). Once you sell a chair that’s it. You can’t give it to another customer.

Now one thing you might be thinking is that all this stuff worked for me because I have a big list.

And you’re right.

The bigger your list is the greater your results are going to be.

But this also works if you’re starting out with nothing and are trying to build your first list. (And eventually you will have a huge list of your own by continuing to apply these very techniques. That’s when you start making five figures in one day)

Carolin Hauser is just one Renegade Professional student who has used these wealth creation methods to quit her job and move from Germany to Santa Barbara, California.

When she first joined Renegade Professional she had sponsored  a total of 3 people in 5 1/2 years in MLM and had never made money with her business. The only thing she knew how to use her computer for was checking emails.

Today she has grown her downline to over 500 reps and her personal income has increased by ten times.

She’s done this on 1-2 hours/day in Renegade Professional and by teaching her prospects the basics of internet marketing.

That’s how you create value (wealth) out of thin air. And that’s how you attract throngs of prospects, leads, customers, business partners, reps, joint venture partners, affiliates and team members.

To Your Success,

Ann Sieg

P.S. – Building a free list of resources for people is a very simple exercise that takes minutes to implement.

If you’d like some more ways to create simple and valuable resources that attract people to you, Mike Klingler has a course called “Writing With Pull” that reveals dozens of different examples that are easy to do and take minimal time to put together – even if you feel like you may not have anything valuable to share with people (these techniques are all about leverage other people’s knowledge).

The “Writing With Pull” course is one of the main factors that Carolin contributes her astounding success to.

This course has normally sold for $195 but you can get the entire thing for free with a membership to our click-by-click training website, Renegade Professional here:

  2. Hi Ann, wow what a great article! You talk about something that is so important to all the people who haven’t made money in this business yet. Many of the newbies think that because they haven’t made money they cannot offer anything valuable to their prospects. Or what if I promise and I can’t deliver. Thank you for talking about this aspect of the business!

  5. Hi Ann,
Excellent article! It’s great to hear about things like this. Since we discovered you, then Ken Evoy and then Renegade Professional, it’s been a whirlwind of information. My wife has been with a well known MLM company for the last two years. She has gone nowhere with their techniques of prospect building. Now she has her own website and with Renegade Professional, we are using Squidoo, Ezines, Facebook and all of rest of the social websites. Now we have hope!
    Thanks again!

  8. Dear Ann,

I just read every single word of this article! (That’s a rare thing for me:)

It is so true that money is simple what we exchange for something we believe to be of value. We call all provide value to the world, whether it is our services in a profession like nursing (which is a fabulous career btw) or leading others in learning the secrets of wealth creation like you.

What a pleasure it is to contantly learn from your thoughts, my friend.

  9. I agree Ann about the Mike Klingler course “writing with Pull”, it is a great course. It allows me to create over 20 pages of new content for a new website under 1 month of doing the course. I would not be able to write such valuable content in such short period of time without this course. I encourage anyone who wants to learn how to write web content to get a copy of this course.

  11. Hi Ann,

Powerful information here that will work for any niche market. I think that is one thing that those new to the marketing principles you teach often miss. You touched on it when you said, “But if I have a series of videos that teaches others how to improve their own health,…”

Too often people tap into the Renegade training resources and copy what you and Mike have done, including targeting the same group - network marketers. But network marketing is a tough target market when you are just starting out.

As soon as I started reading your article, ideas popped into my head on how similar strategies could be implimented for one of my niche markets - homeschoolers.

I think it is important for people to understand they need to find THEIR passion and interest. Find a niche market that fits well with that passion and what they want to promote, then apply the attraction marketing principles taught in Renegade, and that we’ve taught on the WorksTeam webinars, to their own niche market.

Often in the right niche market, people will have hardly any competition because others in that market are clueless about how to market effectively. With a little searching on google, it is pretty easy to find those “goldmine” niche markets.

  13. Ann,
Thank you for sharing your article of making wealth out of nothing. It is so simple, yet, so amazing what you did. Yes, I understand the concept of what you shared. Now the challange is for me is to be able to apply it as I learn and grow through your websites. I need to open my mind to see the value of things I can share to those with needs.
    Thank you!

  14. Use the Writing with Pull class to build a central core of content. My secret to success in a large content creation project was just writing every day. That way, writing got easier and as my “pile” of content turned into a “hill” and then a “mountain”, writing got to be more fun, too. Start with the course and get creating content. Remember, it’s not all words — pictures, diagrams and videos count! Make it focused and educational, entertaining or enlightening. Content is the currency of the internet.

A secret: it’s not your landing page and sales page that’s the core of your content. They are valuable parts of your sales funnel. It’s your core content, your hub of content that will circulate on the internet. Create it and circulate it. Have fun and be prolific!

  15. Thanks Ann this really gives me a kick for moving on. I rarely find the time for the tutorials training and felt very much behind. Thinking that physical things get less by sharing and mental things grow I have heard often but this is real money out of this rule. Thanks again.

  24. Ann,

What a great tip for creating greater site value and search engine relevance! I have learned that in order for a blog to pick up massive traffic, you have to help give it an initial nudge by bringing on as many “self generated” clicks as possible from many different IP addresses and websites.

For example, commenting on your blog has brought my blog many clicks and has boosted my traffic from keyword searches.

Thank you for sharing your invaluable knowledge! This is really good stuff and certainly gave me lots of idea how to bring traffic to my blog, give my readers valuable information in a fun way (i.e. contest method!)! I’ve seen other IM-ers doing the same thing you did, having a contest for their readers about any kind of topics, from asking the readers to name the highest paid affiliate products out there to asking them the instructor’s copywriting secrets..and of course there’s a prize involved! Now you’ve shed some lights on why they did what they did :) Love the idea big time!

  42. I just went through the entire list of great mentors and what struck me is how few women were mentioned– of course, Ann is mentioned but this was trying to guess who Ann’s mentor was. It is so interesting to me that women just do not get the amount of recognition … yet I know there are many greats out there.

I see this imbalance when it comes to boards of companies and organizations of any kind.

A women attorney who specialized in business acquisitions said most of her clients were men. She found it strange that women did not think they could acquire a business. She felt women lacked the confidence. However, she did say more women build their own business.

As for me, most of my great mentors were all women. Many not well known but influenced my life at different points. They gave me confidence and helped move me forward. I have written an article about them so maybe I will post it somewhere. Ann you have been added to my list of mentors!!!

  53. Ann-
You are such an insightful mind. I come from the old paradigm of making and selling tangible goods and find myself challenged by the idea that information - outside of academia is itself a product. Many online marketers encourage development of ebooks and other information products but I am caught by the idea that my knowledge is worthy of selling. Again, an old, outdated paradigm considering women’s wisdom secondary and less important. You argue so eloquently against both ideas that I am convinced. You and Mike are a blessing to me - and many, many others. Thank-you.

I currently am working on wrapping up my 90 day training (which is stretching out a bit longer - but nevertheless) and have gained so much more knowledge and understanding about marketing than I have when I was receiving training through my MLM company.
Thank you again for all of your help and dedication.

  57. Ann I gotta tell you,I love this quote “Money is everywhere for those who know how to create value for others”.Great example you used in this post take about creating a social buzz.

I also liked how you re-packaged existing materials and used it in different areas of your business. This is something that many people fail to do including myself.

We don’t realize that a lot of the content we produce can be re-purposed and used again. So instead of creating something new build upon what you already have. This is a good lesson for us all.
